There
is no real recipe for song writing so none
of our music begins
the same way. Some of it starts in the studio and
some
starts in the
rehearsal place from jams. Some it is there in my head
when I
wake up
and some of it develops during a car ride back home from Wal-Mart.....
usually the
angry songs.
I personally like starting them in the studio because, right off the
bat, I
can
get an idea of how they are going to come across. However.... not
all
songs do the
same for you in the studio VS. the live aspect so just
picking up a
guitar and
shooting out a riff when the whole band is together
does good as well.
I can't begin telling you of all the songs that have been lost because
I had
them in my head when I woke up but didn't have the opportunity
to sit
down and
hammer them out in the studio. You obviously have to
be in the mood to
create
also... that’s why a lot of the ideas come
in spurts.
I am not the only person in the band that writes either. Matt and
Vandl
have
been "instrumental" in a lot of the new ideas. Terry has
been coming
up with some kick ass beats for some of the songs and
Kitty is well on
her way
in becoming an excellent vocal melody writer.
It is so cool to have a group of people that can write in a project
keeping
with the original image yet making each song a little different.
You
may not
hear this yet but in the coming weeks, I hope to upload a
few examples
of this
with songs not yet recorded in the studio.
Hope you enjoy this small tease.

Ever wonder
where it all comes from? Too many times
bands seem to release those "Lost Tapes" 20 years after
the album came out. Well here is our lost tapes - that
were never really lost (before the CD comes out). These
tracks are the
first hint of songs for our next CD - a sneak
peak at the creativity
going on in our secret "think tank
bunker".
Here you will hear all the wrong notes, cords that don't
go together, false starts, scrubbed attempts and drum parts
in places
they shouldn't be in. It's all part of the making of
the song.
In these tracks we are working on structures, riffs, bass
and drum
parts, trying to figure what best fits where. Also
trying to come up
with lyric melodies.... a lot of times after
drinking large quantities
of cheap wine our drummer brings
to the bunker!
Also you will here us just having fun and acting like fools.
you will here us saying "we're rollin" several times.
